You may need input from your GP or medical specialist/s as well as copies of any assessment, health care reports or other forms of evidence to support your application. If you already have this information readily available, you are off to a good start with planning for your planning meeting with NDIS! Once you have your Access Request Form, you have 21 business days to return it to NDIS for processing. We are happy to offer you advice on this if you need it.
How Do I Know If My Application Has Been Processed?
Once the NDIS have received and processed your Access Request Form, a Local Area Coordinator will contact you to arrange a planning meeting. While you are waiting for this call, it is a good idea to start thinking about what support you need and what you would like in your plan. We can talk to you over the phone or meet with you at a location convenient to you. There is no obligation to receive services from OSAN Ability Assist.
Who is eligible for Supported Independent Living?
Individuals with disabilities who require some level of support to live independently may be eligible for SIL. Eligibility is assessed based on individual needs and circumstances.
Who can benefit from Respite Care/Short-Term Accommodation?
Respite Care is beneficial for individuals with disabilities or special needs, and it offers temporary relief for their caregivers or families.
Eligibility is usually based on factors like the health you’re managing at home, and any support you currently receive. You might be eligible for aged care services if you have:
- noticing a change
- being diagnosed with a medical condition or reduced mobility
- experiencing a change in the family care arrangements
- experienced a recent hospital admission
and are:
- Above the age of 65 years (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people).
To know if you are eligible, you will need to have an assessment.
The cost of these services would vary from person to another person. It would depend on which kind of the care that you would be eligible for, the provider you choose and the financial situation.
While the Australian Government might contribute to the cost of your care, there is a possibility that you will be asked to contribute if you could afford to.
