How to Avail NDIS Services For Yourself

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an implementation by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). NDIS provides support to people who are with a permanent disability that has a direct and substantial effect on their ability to carry out everyday activities. Self-management is when you manage your NDIS funding. It gives you the flexibility and choice to decide what supports you buy to meet your plan goals.

What are the benefits of self- managing 

  1. Choice – deciding what supports you purchase in line with what is included in your plan, who provides these supports and how they are delivered.
  2. Flexibility – to use any provider that will best help you to meet your plan goals.
  3. Capacity – to employ or contract staff directly, or have someone employ staff on your behalf.
  4. Ability – to negotiate the costs of your supports so you get the best value-for-money and to use savings to buy more or better quality supports.
  5. Control – over and responsibility for your NDIS funding so you can manage your own budget for the duration of your plan.

The Kind of NDIS Support That someone Can Expect Includes:

  • Support so as to become more independent
  • Encouragement so that you become a more involved member of this community
  • Assistance in getting employment, and

Moral support that helps to attain an overall improved well-being

By directing funds towards reasonable moreover as necessary steps which might help people with disabilities in achieving their goals, rather than funding only the mainstream services, NDIS helps someone with a disability successfully connect with those services.   • Be no over 65 years old while first applying under this scheme,
  • Be living in a very region where the NDIS has become available,

Should meet the age or have a phasing requirement for the region at that time of the roll-outs across all of Australia, if so applicable.
